Designed for bobbin work, also known as reverse decorative stitch embroidery, this specialty accessory allows you to sew with thicker decorative threads and yarns that would normally be too heavy to pass through your sewing machine's needle.

By placing decorative threads in the bobbin and sewing with the right side of your fabric facing down, you can create beautiful raised stitching, textured designs and eye-catching embellishments. Perfect for quilting, garment embellishment, home décor and creative sewing projects.

How to Use

1. Install the Specialty Bobbin Case

Lower the feed teeth and remove the stitch plate.
Remove the standard bobbin case and replace it with the Specialty Bobbin Case.
Reattach the stitch plate and raise the feed teeth.

2. Prepare Your Decorative Thread

For Heavy or Specialty Threads:

Wind the bobbin slowly with your decorative thread, keeping the HUSQVARNA® VIKING® logo facing outward.
Insert the bobbin into the Specialty Bobbin Case with the logo facing up.
Guide the decorative thread through the bobbin tension.
Adjust the bobbin tension screw if necessary to allow the thread to feed smoothly.

For Heavier Yarns and Textured Threads:

Wind the bobbin evenly by hand in a clockwise direction.
Place the bobbin in the Specialty Bobbin Case.
Guide the thread directly through the bypass slot rather than the standard bobbin tension or thread cutter.
Hold the upper thread and turn the handwheel toward you to bring the bobbin thread to the surface.

3. Set Up Your Machine

Thread the upper thread path with regular sewing thread.
Use the recommended needle size for your fabric.
Attach the B or S presser foot.
Position your fabric with the right side facing down and place Tear-Away Stabilizer on top.

4. Start Creating Decorative Stitches

Select a straight stitch, zigzag or an open decorative stitch pattern.
Lengthen the stitch length to accommodate heavier threads.
Sew at a slow, consistent speed for the best results.
Adjust the upper thread tension slightly if needed.
Experiment with different stitches and thread combinations to create unique textured designs.
