- Singer 2040 Hemstitch Wing Needles 90/14
- Hemstitching, also known as Heirloom stitching, is a decorative embellishment used at the hem of clothes, bed linens, pillows, and other household textiles. Singer's Hemstitch Needles feature a winged tip. The wings of the needle push fabric fiber apart; creating small holes. Then matching thread is sewn around the holes; creating eyelets, lacework, and embroidery. For best results, use lightweight cotton or linen with a water-soluble stabilizer on the back; to prevent puckering.
- The use of silk or embroidery thread is highly recommended. Use Singer's Hemstitch Needles with a clear, open toe embroidery foot. The special groove in the base of the foot allows the Hem Stitches to pass beneath the presser foot without getting stuck. Hemstitch Needles are intended for use with Heirloom stitches; typically built into your sewing machine.
