We are thrilled to welcome Michael Smith, Janome Canada’s National Education Manager and Brand Ambassador, for a fun and informative Quilting Essentials seminar! Thanks to our partnership with Janome Canada, we are able to offer this national educator seminar as a gift to our sewing community.

Whether you are a beginner, an experienced quilter, or simply have a stack of unfinished projects waiting for their turn, Michael will show you how to make the quilting process easier, more approachable and a whole lot more fun.

Piecing the quilt top is often the easy part. It’s attaching those layers together that can feel a little intimidating. Michael will take you through several quilting techniques and share practical tips and tricks to help you finish your projects with confidence.

Meet Michael Smith

As National Education Manager and Janome Canada’s Brand Ambassador, Michael travels across the country to share the "Janome love" and help sewists get the most out of their machines.

From an early age, Michael expressed his creativity, imagination, and flair for design—starting when he created new fashions and hairstyles for his sister’s Barbie dolls! Following two diplomas in Fashion Design, his career path took a creative turn when he discovered a passion for quilting. For many years, he has maintained a successful home-studio long-arm quilting business, The Sewcial Quilter.

Often described as a true "social butterfly," Michael is always excited to meet new friends, teach sewing and quilting, and share his enthusiasm for all things Janome!
