Easily Add Delicate Piping to Any Project
Create delicate, professional-looking piping with the PFAFF® Narrow Piping Foot. Designed for covering 1 mm cords with fabric or inserting packaged piping into seams and edges, this foot helps create a neat, tailored finish.
The groove underneath the foot keeps the cord or piping aligned as you sew, making it ideal for adding a refined finishing touch to garments, fashion projects, home décor and accessories.

To Stitch Piping Into a Seam
- Attach the Foot: Snap on the Narrow Piping Foot.
- Position the Piping: Place the piping with the raw edges along the seam line on the right side of the fabric. Place the second piece of fabric on top with right sides together.
- Position Under the Foot: Place the fabric and piping layers under the foot, with the piping positioned in the groove underneath.
- Sew: Use a straight stitch with a stitch length of 2.5. The groove will guide the piping as you sew.
To Make Piping From Your Own Fabric
- Attach the Foot: Snap on the Narrow Piping Foot.
- Prepare the Fabric: Cut bias or crosswise-grain strips wide enough to cover the cording plus the required seam allowance.
- Wrap the Cord: Place the cording on the wrong side of the fabric strip and wrap the fabric around the cord.
- Position Under the Foot: Place the fabric and cord under the Narrow Piping Foot with the cord positioned in the groove underneath.
- Sew: Use a straight stitch with a stitch length of 2.5. The groove guides the cord while the fabric is sewn evenly around it.
- Use Your Piping: Your handmade piping is ready to add to your project.
Tip: When sewing piping into a garment or project, adjust the needle position one setting closer to the cord. This helps cover the original stitching for a clean, professional finish.
