PFAFF® Dissolve-A-Way Plus Stabilizer – Heavy Weight
PFAFF® Dissolve-A-Way Plus 821416096 is a heavy-weight, water-soluble film designed for higher stitch counts, heavier thread weights, and demanding embroidery applications. It can be used as either a topping or backing and completely dissolves in water when you want the stabilizer removed from the finished project.
When to Use
Use Dissolve-A-Way Plus as a topping for:
- Heavy terry cloth, corduroy, fleece, and other high-nap fabrics
- Piqué knits and coarse or uneven fabrics
- Ribbons, yarns, thick threads, and woven fabric strips
- Designs with high stitch counts or heavier thread weights
Use it as a stabilizer-only backing for:
- Lace embroidery
- Multi-layer appliqué
- 3-D thread and yarn designs
- Cutwork and other projects where complete stabilizer removal is desired
How to Use
For Topping:
- Place Dissolve-A-Way Plus on top of the fabric and hoop normally, then embroider.
- Alternatively, hoop the fabric first, place the film on top, and secure it with a basting stitch before embroidering.
For Stabilizer-Only Embroidery:
- Hoop 1–2 layers of Dissolve-A-Way Plus, gently tightening the edges without stretching the film.
- Stitch the design.
- Tear away as much excess film as possible.
- Soak in a warm water bath for about 10 minutes, moving the item continuously until the remaining film dissolves. Rinse with warm water.
- For additional removal, use medium to heavy steam or moisten and blot the remaining film with a wet sponge.
- Lay the finished item flat to dry.
