Easily Add Piping to Any Project
Create professional-looking piped edges and seams with the PFAFF® Piping Foot. Designed for both packaged piping and piping made from your own fabric, the specially shaped groove underneath the foot guides the piping or cord as you sew for an even, consistent finish.
Perfect for adding a tailored detail to garments, bags, cushions, home décor and other sewing projects.

To Stitch Piping Into a Seam
- Attach the Foot: Snap on the Piping Foot.
- Position the Piping: Place the piping with the raw edges along the seam line on the right side of the fabric. Place the second fabric piece on top with right sides together.
- Position Under the Foot: Place the fabric and piping under the Piping Foot, with the piping positioned in the groove underneath the foot.
- Sew: Use a straight stitch with a stitch length of 2.5. The groove guides the piping as you sew.
To Make Piping From Your Own Fabric
- Attach the Foot: Snap on the Piping Foot.
- Prepare the Fabric: Cut bias or crosswise-grain strips wide enough to cover the cording plus the required seam allowance.
- Wrap the Cording: Place the cording on the wrong side of the fabric strip and wrap the fabric around the cord.
- Position Under the Foot: Place the fabric and cord under the Piping Foot with the cord positioned in the groove underneath the foot.
- Sew: Use a straight stitch with a stitch length of 2.5. The groove guides the cord while the fabric is sewn evenly around it.
- Use Your Piping: Your handmade piping is now ready to use in your sewing projects.
Tip: When sewing piping into a garment or project, adjust the needle position one setting closer to the cord. This helps cover the original stitching for a clean, professional finish.
