PFAFF® Dissolve-A-Way Stabilizer – 12 Inches x 25 Yards
PFAFF® Dissolve-A-Way 821414096 is a medium-weight, water-soluble film designed for use as an embroidery topping or stabilizer. As a topper, it creates a smooth surface that helps prevent fabric nap from showing through the stitches. It dissolves in warm water, leaving the finished embroidery soft and free of stabilizer.
When to Use
Use Dissolve-A-Way as a topping for:
- Terry cloth, velvet, corduroy, fleece, and other napped fabrics
- Piqué knits and coarse or uneven fabrics
- Ribbons, yarns, thick threads, and woven fabric strips
Use it as a stabilizer-only for:
- Fine lace embroidery
- Single-layer fabric appliqué
- 3-D thread and yarn decorative pieces
How to Use
For Topping:
- Place Dissolve-A-Way on top of the fabric and hoop normally, then embroider.
- Alternatively, hoop the fabric first, place the film on top, and secure it with a basting stitch before embroidering.
For Stabilizer-Only Embroidery:
- Hoop 1–2 layers of Dissolve-A-Way, gently tightening the stabilizer without stretching the film.
- Stitch the design.
- Tear away as much excess film as possible.
- Soak in warm water for several minutes, moving the item continuously until the remaining film dissolves. Rinse with warm water.
- For quicker removal, medium to heavy steam can also be used, or the film can be moistened and blotted away with a sponge.
- Lay the finished item flat to dry.
