Looking for a fun and functional sewing project? The Petite Stitched Purse is a sweet little clutch with big creative potential! Measuring approximately 12" x 6", this bag is the perfect canvas to show off decorative machine stitches, hand or machine embroidery, or your favorite embellishments.
Designed with a built-in handle closure, this easy-to-make purse uses just half a metre of outer fabric and features a fully lined interior with a pocket. It’s beginner-friendly, yet full of opportunities to personalize—whether you're prepping for a graduation, summer wedding, or a fancy night out.
Start simple: cotton, cotton twill, or denim are all great choices for ease of sewing.
Want to dress it up? Bring on the beads, lace, trims, or embroidery! If you have an embroidery machine, this is a great time to put it to work. Quilted fabric is also a stylish option—either grid-quilted solids or traditionally quilted prints (just be sure to quilt your pieces before class).
You’ll also have the option to add a zipper closure instead of the magnetic closure—your instructor will have samples and guide you through the process if you choose this variation.
Optional twist: Recycled denim is welcome—just be sure to deconstruct it before class.
