About Us

Tom’s Sewing Centre is a family run business that started in 2001 in Surrey, BC Canada. We service and repair all makes of sewing machines, sell sewing and quilting notions, quilting fabric, sewing machine parts, and Sewing machines from Baby Lock, Janome, Elna and Singer. We love to sew and quilt and love meeting new people that love to sew and quilt.

Tom started in the sewing industry in 1996 and after working for others for a few years decided to branch out on his own. Tom has always been an entrepreneur at heart, starting his first business at 16. He started off repairing machines in his garage and with house calls. Quickly moving into a small warehouse and it wasn’t long before the business had grown to the point of needing more help so his wife Kerri came onboard. Our children have grown up in the store and still help out when not in school. We have grown to include 3 stores, Surrey Sewing Centre, Countryfolk Fabric and Burnaby Sewing Centre. Tom is certified to do warranty repair on Baby Lock, Janome, Elna and Singer Sewing machines. Tom takes every opportunity to increase his training and knowledge on sewing machines so he can help you with your most difficult issues. As well as mechanical training, Tom also is a quilter, so he understands when something is not working correctly from both sides of the equation. Kerri is not only a quilter but also loves to incorporate embroidery into her projects and was part of the first groups to be certified to run Kimberbell Events.

I started taking my sewing machine to Tom’s in November
2020.  I was having trouble with my machine and Tom’s agreed to take on the warranty work for the machine.  He always looks at my machine right away when I have any issues so I never have any down time which I really appreciate.  I would definitely recommend Tom’s to anyone

For decades Tom’s  sewing has been my go to place for machines/fabrics and notions. It is  a place where you are treated like a family member of the sewing/quilting world ,not just a consumer. You need to purchase  a machine , get one fixed, have a problem or want to run an idea by them, they are there ready to listen and set in motion the effort to help you have a  positive  solution. Covid immediately  saw staff learning zoom so we could still have the pleasure of taking classes and
had  Tom seeking the products we needed to make masks to protect ourselves, family and friends before they were available to buy. That is the kind of place you will encounter when you enter the door.  I could go on

search for things.I Love the layout and colour!  Header photos are great!  So easy to set up my account and love that I can see my purchase history.  My payment information is already preloaded - what a time saver!
